Stetson Smitherman, MBA, MSN, MEDSURG-BC, RN is an accomplished and dedicated healthcare professional with a passion for leadership and patient care. With an impressive academic background and meaningful experience in nursing and education, Stetson has consistently demonstrated excellence in his career.
Stetson possesses clinical experience in diverse settings such as Neurology Telemetry, Medical-Surgical, and a COVID-19 unit. He excels in coordinating patient care, mentoring new nurses and students, serving as a charge nurse, and adapting to the evolving healthcare landscape during the COVID-19 pandemic. Stetson is a recipient of the D.A.I.S.Y Award in March 2022.
Stetson has proven himself as an effective leader and influencer in his current role at Covenant Medical Center. He has guided groups of individuals in change management projects while fostering positive relationships with his peers. He has played pivotal roles in restructuring the hospital’s Staffing Effectiveness Council to ensure compliance with state standards through data-driven decisions. He led the opening of the hospital’s discharge-focused unit to improve hospital throughput. Finally, he has worked to ensure hospital processes are more efficient through leveraging his proficiency in the use of Microsoft products like Excel, Power Automate, and Forms.

Notably, his efforts in throughput have led to increased bed turnover rates, reduced emergency department wait times, and enhanced discharge processes.
