Dr. Steph Hoelscher is an Associate Professor of Graduate Informatics and the MSN Informatics Program Director at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. Board-certified in Nursing Informatics and a HIMSS Fellow, she holds certificates in AI Prompt Engineering, Translational Science, and is a certified AI management professional. With nearly 30 years of experience in oncology, trauma, and informatics, Dr. Hoelscher is an expert in prompt engineering, generative AI, EHR workflow redesign, clinical decision support governance, and reducing clinician documentation burden. As an active author, Dr. Hoelscher has contributed to multiple books, including the CPHIMS Review Guide and The Nature of Pandemics – Health Informatics Technology and Infectious Disease: Learning from the Past. In 2024, Dr. Hoelscher has been an invited keynote speaker to several events, sharing her insights on ethical integration of AI in healthcare and nursing. She is the coauthor of the popular AI article, The ChatGPT Storm and What Faculty Can Do.
