Stephanie C. Evans, PhD, APRN, CPNP-PC

Dr. Evans is an assistant professor at Texas Woman’s University (TWU) on the Dallas Campus. She is a bachelor of nursing graduate of Texas Christian University Harris College of Nursing program.  She holds a master’s degree in child and adolescent health nursing from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio and is a certified pediatric nurse practitioner in primary care.  Dr. Evans completed her PhD in nursing education from The University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado.  

Her clinical areas begin in the neonatal intensive care and pediatric transitional care areas after completing her BSN, before accepting a commission in the United States Air Force.  Dr. Evans spent five years as an active-duty captain in the USAF Nurse Corps, serving during Operation Enduring Freedom. During her USAF time, she expanded clinically and worked in women’s and children’s services while meeting the clinical requirements for a nurse on active military duty. Upon completing her USAF service, she began teaching nursing in an undergraduate nursing program while also working as a primary care pediatric nurse practitioner.  She has been a full-time nursing faculty since 2004 as well as working as a pediatric nurse practitioner since 2005.  Dr. Evans has taught across all levels of nursing, from undergraduate to doctoral nursing, with an emphasis on leadership, management, ethics, and pediatric nursing.

Dr. Evans holds an advanced practice license and is certified with the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board.  She is actively involved with the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, emphasizing work on the Developmental, Behavioral, and Mental Health interest group and recently was appointed to the Youth Suicide Task Force for NAPNAP.  Dr. Evans has published articles, book chapters, editor for clinical guides and books, and has presented at local, regional, state, national and international levels on various topics to include her research.
