Dr. Damon B. Cottrell, Ph.D., DNP, APRN, FNP-C, CCNS, ACNS-BC
Associate Dean and Associate Professor
Dr. Cottrell is Associate Dean and Associate Professor at Texas Woman's University (TWU) in Denton, Texas. He graduated from the Baptist Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in San Antonio with a diploma in nursing and achieved a bachelor's and master's degree in Nursing from TWU. He holds a Post-Masters Certificate as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Indiana State University and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Robert Morris University. Dr. Cottrell holds a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Texas at Tyler. Dr. Cottrell's experience spans over three decades and includes practice as a registered nurse and advanced practice registered nurse within emergency, acute, and primary care settings. His experience extends to a myriad of roles including staff nurse, clinical coordinator, supervisor, clinical nurse specialist, nurse practitioner, and director, along with his academic appointments. Dr. Cottrell holds certification and licensure as an adult acute and critical care clinical nurse specialist and as a family nurse practitioner. He is a past chair of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, Certification Corporation. Dr. Cottrell has published multiple articles and presented at the local, regional and national levels about various topics in clinical practice.
