Description

In this Nurse Talks segment, we discuss the critical issue of human trafficking, particularly in the context of healthcare settings. With Texas ranking second in the nation for reported cases of labor and sex trafficking, nurses play a crucial role in identifying and assisting victims. This presentation discusses an innovative approach to educating nursing students and interprofessional health professions students on recognizing and protecting individuals who may be victims of trafficking.

Notably, the Texas Legislature passed House Bill 2059 in 2019, which mandates that all direct healthcare providers receive continuing education on human trafficking.
